In need of a mold for a model or a prototype that you have constructed? Do you need a large scale piece mold of a sculpture to take on to a foundry? Do you have a small architectural element that needs to be molded on site? Or perhaps you want to try out your idea before taking it on to be vacuum formed. Let me make a mold for you. There are many different types of molds and even more choices for materials to mold out of. Choosing the appropriate type and material, whether that be a two part mold out of a brush-on polyurethane rubber with a plaster mother mold or a pourable mold of silicone rubber, I will come up with the right method for the specific job.
Mold making is a very important stage in the production of a sculpture. The work will only be as good as the mold it is cast from. Each piece to be molded must be considered uniquely as they have different planes, angles, undercuts, detail and texture to name a few things. Firstly, a mold must be engineered so that it 'pulls', meaning that the casting of work should pull out cleanly with no locks or grabs. Locks and grabs prevent the piece from demolding without breakage occurring.
Even a good mold has an expiration date, but with the right rubber choice and if the mold is stored in a temperate, dry environment, a mold could last many years. If multiple castings are needed I can provide a mold that will be durable enough to allow multiple castings by choosing a rubber and constructing the mothermold in a fashion that makes it neat, practical, and easy to use.
Lets talk about what you need.
